Wangaratta Knitting Camp
On the last weekend in May many machine knitters converged on Wangaratta for an enjoyable weekend of machine knitting. Staying at the beautiful Gateway Quality Hotel we were treated to delicious dining, comfortable accommodation, a lovely conference facility to knit in and most of all the company of other knitters. Many had the opportunity to catch up with friends and make new ones, share our craft, learn from others and have a great time. If you needed a break from knitting there was a gym to keep you active, a heated pool with sauna and spa and a bar and lounge area for that cappuccino or glass of wine and quiet catch up. Some that arrived in town early got a chance to visit the Wangaratta Woollen Mills and top their stash up that I’m sure was most certainly needed. There was a variety of machines in use for the weekend with the plastic models proving popular for their portability. Sherrill brought along her sock machine so we could see her master it at last, I think she will be taking orders in the near future. Susan and Annette found the time to untangle some yarn, but ended that process after extracting only a few metres. We got to meet the ladies from the newly formed club in North East Victoria, run by Charmane. Thanks to Barbara Brown for all her organising of the Wangaratta Live - in Weekend. I’m sure we will all meet again at another camp in the future wherever it may be.

AUSTRALIAN SHEEP and WOOL SHOW
by Angela McGregor
Thank you to the MKAV Committee, Moonee Ponds Club and Bendigo Club members who spent time demonstrating, chatting to members of the public, and promoting machine knitting during the three day Australian Sheep and Wool Show. We enjoyed working together and all the lovely sunshine we had added to the atmosphere. Denise, Helen, Jackie, Chris, Rhonda, Anne, Lois, Jan S and Jan K thanks for your company and I look forward to working with you again. It was great to have so many of our existing members pop by to visit us and hopefully we will have attracted some mew members. I would also like to thank Ken McGregor for setting up and dismantling our display. He had the job of sewing on the 100 knitted streamers that we had as a back drop at our stand. The sweetener for his help was that he could play a few games of golf and go bush walking while the show was on. Congratulations to people who entered the Woolcraft competition and to the prize winners. A big thank you also to our judges:
