Our time at the show has come and gone. The sun was shining most of the days and the nights left our cars frozen over. This year we were the feature craft at the show and made a display of machines and knitted items in the main Woolcraft pavilion. We had lots of interest from the general public with 4 different machines in use and an additional sock machine in action on the Friday and Sunday. Janette was there to crank her 1928 Vintage Circular Sock machine and had the crowd mesmerised with every turn, as socks were churning out the other end. A lightweight LK150 was set up to show how basic a machine can be and items knitted on it were in front so people could see the result with not too much effort. The next machine on offer was a Singer 326, a step up from the basic to use punchcards. The singer is a common machine mentioned at shows.  Lots of comments from the crowd say they either had one at home or their mother used to have one of these. The last machine perched near the wall was an electronic Brother 940 connected to a touchscreen laptop to delight those that want to move in a more modern direction. A pattern was drawn up in the morning and knitted on the machine during the day. We had young and old fascinated with what we can create on our machines. Many cards and valued advice was handed out to those who took the time to chat with us. We have inspired many to take on the craft and help us continue to keep it alive. Keep an eye out at clubs for new members and help us to guide them along in their journey of learning how to machine knit.
This year we had 2 of our machine knitting entries on the catwalk, so it was great to see the items on parade. Second prize in the Machine Knitting Adult Garment class by Denise Chevalier and second prize in the Fashion Garment using commercial yarn by Charmane Bennett. Well done ladies!
Thank you to all those that entered the Australian Sheep and Wool Show this year, and congratulations to the knitters who won prizes.  A special thank you to all who helped out at the stand, for without your help this wouldn't have been a successful show.

Live - In Weekend at Amberley 2025

I greatly enjoyed the MKAV 2025 Live-in Weekend spending time knitting, catching up with members from all around Victoria, and being surrounded by an attractive arboreal landscape.
Thank you Barbara Brown for organising this event - Angela McGregor.
