Australian Sheep & Wool Show 2024
|
Thank you to all those that entered the Australian Sheep and Wool Show this year, and congratulations to the knitters who won prizes. This year we had 3 of our machine knitting entries on the catwalk so it was great to show off the versatility of our machines. The red oversized jumper was knitted by Colleen Arnold, the fairisle cardigan by Liliana Ward and the green fairisle jumper by Jackie Newman. Another thanks goes to the many volunteers helping to share our craft at the MKAV stand at the show. We had lots of interest and clubs have already seen some new members turn up to learn from us all. |
Ballarat Live-In Weekend 2024
I would like to thank Barbara and Sherrill for organising the Live In Weekend. The Mercure Hotel in Ballarat was a most suitable venue for our sleeping, eating, and especially our machine knitting requirements. SPELLING TRIVIA: BALLAARAT or BALLARAT Originally both the Ballaarat and Ballarat spellings were used. In 1994 Ballarat became officially the correct spelling. - Angela
"The weekend was great to catch up with knitters from across the state." Susan
"By the end of the weekend I felt inspired by everyone's work and loved being with such sharing/caring people." Julie
“I have had a challenging time of it late but thanks to Barbara's kind words I decided to attend but really felt it might be too much. I came home on such a high. Hearing the buzz of happy voices and the rrrrrrp of knitting machines plus all the lovely work and demonstrations - it did me the world of good. Even a dose of Covid couldn't take away my pleasure. I'm very inspired and not sleeping with excitement - life is good again!” Carole
"The weekend was thoroughly enjoyable as usual, and it was lovely to catch up with old and new friends as well as see so many different knitting projects on the go. The range was great - from baby beanies to creative hangings; from samples to completed garments and such a range of ideas and patterns being shared around. Other highlights like Susan's demonstration of intarsia and Glenda's Magic Cables demonstration - were icing on the cake of a comfortable venue in a beautiful setting with good food that we didn't have to prepare!! I did a minimal amount of work, but thoroughly enjoyed myself and was most grateful for all the help given to me." Rena
"Absolutely enjoyed the weekend, could have stayed for a week! Time to try new ideas, the encouragement
& support of everyone is invaluable, a pleasure to be a part of such a group. So pleased to have discovered
how to make & use a new shape, but still based on the simple square." Ruth
"It was great seeing people from all over the state once more. I thought the accommodations were very
comfortable and the grounds of the facility were lovely and restful. The wait staff were always smiling and
extremely helpful. Dietary requirements were catered for efficiently." Pamela
"I always enjoy meeting up with friends and people I've met over the years, with the
same interests. Everybody's different knitting is certainly inspiring." Carmen
